A Sweet Family Staycation At Grand Hyatt Melbourne

We have just returned home after a fabulous 24-hours at Grand Hyatt Melbourne.

We experienced the Hotel's Staycation package and it was a perfect way to kick off the kinder holidays.

When we arrived at our room, a stunning Spa King corner room on level 20, Ava and Alexander were just a tad excited to see the chocolate freckles, strawberries and activity packs in the room. And I was just a tad excited to see the bottle of Chandon.... and the magnificent views!

From our room we could see all the way down the Yarra River, Government House, Port Phillip Bay, Southbank, Fed Square and Flinders Street station. Alex absolutely loved counting the different modes of transportation from the hotel window!

Once the kids had settled in we then enjoyed an afternoon swim in the gorgeous heated pool on level 9. The kids had a ball in the spa and lap pool and we then went back to our room for the world's biggest bubble bath in the spectacular marble bathroom.

I had made our family an early dinner reservation at the Burn City Pop-Up at the hotel's signature restaurant, Collins Kitchen. I had heard such wonderful things about the Burn City Pop-Up with Burn City Smokers and it did not disappoint. The pop-up was originally meant to run over winter only but due to popularity has been extended until the end of November.

The menu is classic Southern American barbecue style and Pete and I enjoyed cured salmon and Louisiana style octopus to start, followed by the yummiest smoked lamb rump, steak and herby slaw.

To finish we had the Whole Baked Apple Crumble and it was exquisite.

The kids were very well catered for too - Ava ordered spaghetti and Alex had schnitzel + rice and they shared the Chocolate Lava cake and ice cream for dessert.

It was an absolutely fantastic dinner experience, with delightful service and sensational food + wine and I would highly recommend booking into the Burn City Pop-Up before the collaboration ends.

The next morning we headed down to Collins Kitchen to enjoy the buffet breakfast which was included in our Staycation package.

I was not surprised to hear that the extensive Breakfast Butffet at Collins Kitchen has been awarded Gourmet Traveller's Best Breakfast for the last three years, it is just fabulous.

There is a fruit + juice bar, an egg station, patisserie, bakery, yoghurt + cereal bar, cheese station and carving station, gluten free bar, wok + steamer station plus a smoothie bar and I think our fam enjoyed something from every single one of these stations!

After a delightful breakfast it was time to head back to the pool for another quick swim before check out.

We then bid farewell to the hotel, took a leisurely stroll along Collins Street and took the kids on a tram ride on the City Circle Tram before heading home.

Thanks for the memories (and the sweet treats) Grand Hyatt Melbourne, we will be back again soon! xx
