Ava & Alex's joint bedroom makeover

I am SO excited to share these pics from the kids’ bedroom makeover!

As some of you know, this bedroom makeover has been in the works for quite some time but I finally got my act together and completed our little ones new bedroom.

Ava requested unicorns and penguins and Alex requested superheroes, cars and oceans. Not an easy brief! I wanted the room to be a combination of pretty pinks and pastels for Ava, with some bolder blues and reds for Alex. Being Ava’s first year at school we also wanted to add a desk to the room.

There a still a couple of things I would like to add to the room, such as a nice arm chair for reading, plus a new rug, however the pics below will show you how the room is currently looking. Most importantly, the kids LOVE their new room, so I am one happy mumma! xx

The Furniture

We got all our furniture from FANTASTIC FURNITURE and it could not have been an easier process.

We wanted to maximise the space in the room for the kids to play, so opted for a super compact bunk bed and desk and loved the range at Fantastic Furniture.

The three main pieces in the room are the Cabin Bunk Bed, Coda 6 Shelf Bookcase and the Como Student Desk, complete with Retro white chair. The mattresses we chose were the Sleeptight for the top bunk and the Sleepheaven for the bottom bunk.

We ordered all the items online and collected them from the Nunawading store. My father-in-law helped us transport the items home and we were thrilled when we saw the mattresses came compressed and rolled into small boxes, making it super easy to transport them home.

When it was time to put the mattresses on the bed, we simply unboxed them, placed them on the bed and they rolled out and decompressed instantly. So clever!

The décor

Being 4 and 6 years old, Ava and Alex’s interests are ever changing so we didn’t want to add too many new pieces that they will soon lose interest in and instead I incorporated all of their current favourite toys and décor into the bedroom, such as Alex’s VW Kombi’s, Ava’s neon unicorn nightlight, some sweet buntings from Sambellina and Clocksicle clock.

The main new additions to the bedroom were the quilt cover sets and also the gorgeous ‘Unicorn Bouquet’ and ‘Walter Whale’ prints from Fizzy Pop Designs. Fizzy Pop also made some cute pink and blue name signs for their door. Fizzy Pop has the most gorgeous range of kids prints + wall art and you can see their full range at www.fizzypopdesigns.com.au.
